The rostrum camera is designed to animate still pictures or objects.
Many visual effects can be created, including: wipes and zooms, changing a still picture into a moving image sequence, rolling film backwards and forwards through the film gate for double exposures, zooms, rotating or moving the table holding an image, panning from side to side; rotating, or doing both at the same time. The rostrum can be used to film text, transparencies, objects, and live action (hands under the camera).
