This online platform resulted from a research and development grant from the Daiwa Foundation to visit Japan in February 2009. During this visit we began a number of discussions about methods and processes of exchanging and sharing work with different artists and organisations. This we envisioned as a long term and sustained dialogue in line with other no.w.here projects such as "The Cinema of Prayoga", "The Free Cinema School"and "The Light Reading series".

During our stay in Japan we visited and made connections with a number of exciting organisations but we decided to proceed in the first instance in dialogue with MIACA, an organization dedicated to the conservation and promotion of moving image art works and artists from Japan.

We hope this may be the first of many future collaborations and and ongoing discourse between the Uk and Japan,s rich history and vibrant contemporary culture in the field of artists film and video. To support this possibility and with support from both the Daiwa Foundation and the Sasakawa Foundation we have built this online site as a publishing space for not only this first curatorial space but also for future national and international projects across borders and languages.
